How to install Firefox Add-ons without an Internet connection (offline)

To install an add-on without Internet connectivity, first go to the add-ons download page (a. g. with a computer that is connected and right-click the Add to Firefox button. choose Save Link As… and save the .xpi file.

To install, start firefox and open the “xpi” file: File>Open File
This should install the add-on without requiring Internet access. simple.

    Doesn’t work on firefox 7, hangs with a “Verifying” progress bar that doesn’t progress.

      are you sure the issue isn’t with the xpi itself (curupted, incompatible, ..etc)? if you got to the verifying stage, then the problem is probably not with this workaround.

      try another plugin and see what happens.
